Laminate

With a laminate benchtop you need to consider the various colour choices available but also the style of edging to be used in your kitchen design.

The following profiles are available:

90º post formed – *15mm

90º post formed – *10mm

180 º post formed edge

Tight form edge – *10mm

Square edge – laminate or ABS on edge

Tighter profiles are available for some brands in limited colours.

Stone

The choice to make with a stone benchtop is whether to go with a natural stone or an engineered stone. Granite is one of the most popular choices of natural stone used for benchtops. Engineered stone benchtops consist of about 95 per cent quartz and 5 per cent polymer resins and colouring. Granite and quartz are resistant to weathering so should not chip, scratch or stain. Engineered stone can be installed in a 20mm or 40mm thickness and with a waterfall edge. For inspiration on the looks you can achieve with engineered stone, visit Ceasar Stone.

Timber

A timber benchtop provides a gorgeous natural look and can even be installed with waterfall edges. Potential species include spotted gum, grey ironbark, European oak, American oak, brushbox or blackbutt. If you want a more sustainable option, consider recycled timber, reclaimed timber or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved timber.

Unlike other manufacturers, Home of Kitchens is not locked in with any one supplier of kitchen bench tops, so we can provide you with any colour, style and finish you desire at a highly competitive price.

Sink

When planning your benchtop, it’s important to decide what style of sink would suit your kitchen design.

  • Undermount sinks as the name suggests, are installed under a cutout in the benchtop. The style is fashionable but more expensive. This option is not available with a laminated benchtop.
  • Undermount sinks with draining flutes and/or insert drainer provides that minimalist look with practicality in mind.
  • Above mount sinks are the most affordable and popular option.
  • Above mount sinks are now being installed flush with the benchtop to achieve a very flat look and feel.

Splashbacks

Once a just row of tiles to catch splashes from the sink or cooktop, the splashback is now a big ticket item in Melbourne kitchen renovations. Infuse colour and style into your kitchen design with gorgeous splashbacks.

Tile

One of the most affordable options for splashbacks, tiles offer the flexibility to fit any space. Choose from porcelain or glass and a massive range of colours, textures and sizes to achieve your unique look.

Glass

Sleek and easy to clean, glass adds light and depth to your kitchen. It withstands high temperatures so is perfect for behind the cooktop. A range of textures are available or consider a mirror as another splashback option.

Stone

Used as a splashback, stone is an attractive and low maintenance choice. Granite has individual characteristics while engineered stone achieves a contemporary look. As there is no grout, stone is easy to clean.

Stainless Steel

Used in commercial kitchens, stainless steel has exceptional hygiene properties and durability. It is a timeless choice for your Melbourne kitchen renovation.

Acrylic Solid Surface

This durable acrylic resin material is a flexible, cost-effective alternative to stone or glass. Create a seamless scratch-resistant splashback with a contemporary look.
